I really didn't want to spend some much money to keep a cabinet cool and it seemed that there should be cheaper alternatives. I have a stereo receiver, Blu-ray player, Xbox 360, power conditioner all in one cabinet and there was no ventilation, except for leaving the doors open, which is unacceptable. So I bit the bullet and bought the HiFlo Vent System and installed it, one vent on each side of the cabinet.The system functions very well. When the systems are all turned off the fans are also off as they are controlled by a thermostat. When we have the Xbox 360 running it runs continuously, but that is pretty much what we expected. Because this cabinet is in a large room with high ceilings and the sound goes through the receiver, we don't even really notice the sound of the fan.Yes, the system was expensive, but in this case it was ideal, and much easier than trying to engineer the same type of system on my own.
